STRONG ZERO AD

STRONG ZERO AD

Strong Zero [FAKE AD]

As someone who frequents Japan quite often, I couldn’t help but indulge in their famous alcoholic drink, Strong Zero. I loved this drink and created inside jokes with my friends about it. This is the first fake ad I’ve created so it only felt right to make the ad about this legendary drink. To create this piece, I used Blender and Adobe after effects. I modeled and rigged the character in blender myself so that I could control the inverse kinematics. I wanted the character to have a distinct, cartoonish, childish, drunk walk while walking along the road to really drive his happiness into the scene. in the background, I had the buildings (Strong zero cans) bouncing up and down to give the scene some extra rubber hose atmosphere. Along with this, the lemons floating through the sky were to also point to the flavor of the drink. The final cherry on top was adding a stroke on the animation using freestyle in blender and the cartoon effect in after effects. this mixed with the uneven walking surface for the character made this feel hand drawn and have a rubber hose feel. I fell in love watching this video on repeat. It was very rewarding finishing this video because I had originally struggled with the walking cycle, but it finally came together.

Hi-Chew [FAKE AD]

After creating the Strong Zero ad, I wanted to make another ad based around a Japanese product. I originally decided to make a Fami Chikki ad, but it was pretty lack luster so I held off and decided to work on another one. I decided on Hi-Chew, the famous Japanese candy known worldwide. For this project, I heavily relied on the blender add on, FLIP Fluids. This was how I was able to truly simulate water and liquids in the first scene easier. There was also a heavy use of rerendering the same scene multiple times with Jump cuts, mainly with the 2nd scene where the 4 fruits cut back and forth as they spash through the water. The main reason I wanted to do this is because of the way the last polaroid picture was framed. A few struggles I ran into on this project was with the water simulations. Since I had modeled all of the fruit in blender, water has a hard time of recognizing the fruit, mainly due to its odd shape. I then found out that if I select one check box (re export mesh on bake) it will recognize the object more accurately. One of the great things about 3d programs is that one tiny thing can make a major difference, no matter how simple it really is. I wanted to promote this project on social media so that Hi-chew could see it for themselves. As of now, they haven’t seen it, but its not for nothing. I was able to learn quite a bit from working on this project and I feel it’s opened a lot of doors creatively in my mind for other projects. These are always my favorite types of projects because I always learn something new and on top of that, I can’t stop rewatching the video over and over again. I hope you enjoy my Hi Chew ad and I hope to make a bunch more in the future.

Favorite Artists

This is easily the longest I’ve spent working on a video and the longest I’ve taken a break on a project. In July of 2022, I came into this project with so much motivation and Ideas. I wrote a script, I recorded a voice over, I had an idea of the style I wanted for this video. Everything was going smoothly, I had finished 4 of the 10 artists for the video then suddenly, I was hit with creative block. I wanted to make each section different, but I ran out of ideas on how to make each one unique while also trying to outdo he previous section. It was very hard and I decided to take a break to clear my mind. This was no ordinary break; in fact, I didn’t even end up returning to this project until January of 2023 when I stumbled onto a random burst of ideas for this specific project. I then re did the whole rest of the script, finished the remaining sections while also implementing new things I learned between the time I abandoned this project and continued working on it. And at last, I finished the video and it came out better than I had originally anticipated. I would like to make more of these videos, but with client work and other ideas I have in mind, it would be a major pain in the ass. With that being said, enjoy!

Gone are the days

My favorite producer of all time is Nujabes. His music always puts me in a relaxed mood and it never gets old. At this time, I was experimenting in Cinema4D: Learning how to model, physics simulations, materials, rendering, the whole 9 yards. while rendering these random projects, I was listening to my favorite Nujabes song, Gone are the days. I ran through some of the animations I made and decided to revamp them to fit the music and vibe. It’s usually one of the main pieces I show people when I tell people I do motion design.

No Man’s land

This was the beginning of a story I’ve written and decided to animate. I wanted to continue making this animation into a full 20 minute animation but… time innit. I created the character from a drawing and went over in after effects. This is not traditional animation, its my own way of animation. I had a very good time making this and it was my first time drawing reference frames and going over it after. Enjoy

Telegraph Ave

For my digital media class, we were tasked to create a typography video based on an audio. While most students chose short movie scene (maybe 1 minute long) I chose to do a full song. I had been listening to this song religiously around this time and decided I NEEDED to make a typography using this song. This project was tailored towards my skillset. I remember showing the class for presentation and the level of skill between mine and the rest of the class really showed the experience advantage I had over them. I got so many questions for this.

BRoll Media

I was tasked to make this intro for B Roll media, a marketing and youtube company. This project took roughly a month and I’m not gonna lie… I hated working on this. There were multiple steps I had to fix this project. The client wanted simple shading so I had to redo all the models and textures. I also had to rerender for each aspect ratio. This project was made using Blender, Cinema 4d, After Effects, and Premiere Pro. In the end, I was fairly happy with the outcome. Fortunately, all the annoyances paid off in the end.

Synergy Intro

A esports team commissioned me to make a montage so I ended up going into a Fortnite map, getting a scan of the atmosphere, turned it into a point cloud and imported into unreal engine. I messed around, put some models in and animated the scene. They were very happy with the intro and I think it only took me a couple hours to make. Enjoy the video.

Parallel Retro Intro

If you look at a lot of my work, you can probably notice a very common pattern… RETRO. I love things that look dated and old. A main reason for this is because my music taste is old, and I also was recorded on a VHS camera as a kid so that sense of nostalgia is something I like to share with people. With that being said, this fun project was right up my alley. A mix of blender and After effects led me to create this little retro city with cubes to show off the Team I was apart of, Parallel.

Parallel Shapes Intro

Just like the other Parallel intro, this one was for fun and to show off my skills at the time. A mix of blender and after effects used to blend the 3d and 2d elements together. Enjoy

Contest Rules

I hosted an montage editing competition for those who edited the popular game, Fortnite. I had to create an announcement video for this contest so I quickly threw together this video in less than 2 hours and honestly, very happy with how it turned out. I think it got the simplicity factor down while also being stylistic and displaying the message I needed to get across. Enjoy!
